Paramount Pictures’ X Account Hacked Amid Hollywood’s Intensifying Corporate Battle
The digital presence of one of Hollywood’s most iconic studios took an unexpected hit on Tuesday when the official Paramount Pictures X (formerly Twitter) account was briefly hacked. For a short period, its bio was replaced with the inflammatory message: “Proud arm of the fascist regime.” The breach, though swiftly corrected, ignited widespread speculation due to its timing—coinciding with one of the most volatile weeks in the entertainment industry in years.
A Hack That Arrived in the Middle of a Corporate Earthquake
The compromise of Paramount’s account came just one day after David Ellison’s Paramount Skydance announced a hostile takeover bid for Warner Bros Discovery (WBD). The timing raised eyebrows industrywide, especially as the move followed closely on the heels of Netflix and Warner Bros’ landmark agreement that would see the streamer acquire key Warner Bros. divisions, including WB studios, HBO, HBO Max, and gaming units.
With nearly 3.5 million followers, Paramount’s account is a major public communication channel. While the hack was reversed quickly—the bio restored to “The official X account for Paramount Pictures”—the momentary breach added yet another stress point to Hollywood’s ongoing corporate reshuffling.

Political Undercurrents Intensify the Turmoil
Complicating matters further, the hack unfolded against a backdrop of escalating political tension involving President Donald Trump and the Ellison family. Donald Trump has previously praised David Ellison and Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison, describing them as major supporters and expressing confidence in Ellison’s leadership following Skydance’s merger with Paramount Global earlier this year.
But that apparent goodwill shifted dramatically this week.

After a “60 Minutes” episode featuring Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, now a vocal Trump critic, the President criticized the new ownership of the show—namely Paramount—calling the segment biased and claiming the series had become “worse” under Ellison’s leadership.
This clash added a fresh political dimension to an already fraught corporate environment.
Editorial Changes Raise More Questions
Adding more fuel to speculation, Ellison recently finalized a $150 million deal to acquire Bari Weiss’s contrarian media platform The Free Press, simultaneously appointing Weiss as CBS News’ editor-in-chief. Industry analysts suggest the move may be intended to strengthen CBS News’ appeal among conservative audiences.
Weiss is set to make her on-air debut by moderating an upcoming one-hour CBS special featuring Erika Kirk, head of Turning Point USA.
Market Impact: Trump Weighs in on Paramount’s Future
When questioned about Paramount Skydance’s takeover attempt of WBD, Trump adopted a cautious approach, stating he’d need to review how the competing deals would transform market power among giants like Netflix and Paramount Skydance.
“None of them are particularly great friends of mine,” he said. “I want to do what’s right.”
