Dualist Inquiry, aka Sahej Bakshi, needs no introduction. Entering the electronica scene with his EP Dualism in 2011, Doppleganger, which released earlier this year, was an instant hit. A sort of genre-breaking sound that applies to everyone. Not overdoing the electronica, the album is now an often played party track. With his relentless gigging, and supporting/collaborating with other artists around India, crowds go crazy for the tracks on this album.

This Manipal/Chennai djent outfit had been gearing up all of 2012, playing only very few shows. Now they have geared up with a colossal 11 track album filled with collaborations and and 7-string deep chugging djent. With some really innovative song writing, this is one serious metal album to get into. Taking a step forward from Bangalore metal act Limit Zero’s Gravestone Constellations, which released late in 2012, Cerebration has some astounding sound quality is quite a fluid album from start to finish.

This vivid guitarist/composer has collaborated with various international artists over the years via the Aditya Balani Group, who have been performing since 2008. With groovy tones reaching into folk, through a lot of jazzy and Indian elements, their sound often features sudden tempo changes and smooth jazz tones, via the keys, guitar and bass. After co-founding the famous Indian Classical act, Advaita, he moved on to collaborating with some great international thespians ranging from Kenwood Dennard to even Shubha Mudgal.

This all-girl outfit hailing from North East India have made quite the scene in Delhi. With some rough tones and a punk vibe, their music reflects women empowerment and their tunes are really catchy at live gigs. The four track EP, Whims, is an epic statement in the many disciplines of music that the city sees. With an eclectic mix of  indie and post punk ,a dash of glam rock and screeching keytar, their glam quotient is quite validated by the intensity of their music. Simple yet intense, elegant and rough at the same time, the sound reminisces a punk era vibe.

Jumping to the beat like over-enthusiastic youngsters, this pop-rock outfit almost fits directly into the “indie” niche. Originally from Chennai, this band has grown huge in just over a year. Playing an amazing set at the 2012 Strawberry Fields, competing at Saarang in 2013, and then finally gaining national attention,  their blend of eclectic indie, mad garage rock, a little bold alternative and electronica is quite interesting.
