Malayalam Actor Bala Arrested Following Ex-Wife’s Amritha Suressh Complaint

Malayalam actor Bala was arrested following a complaint lodged by his ex-wife, singer-composer Amritha Suressh. The arrest, reported by OnManorama, stems from accusations of outraging a woman’s modesty and violating juvenile justice laws related to their 12-year-old daughter. This latest controversy adds to the ongoing tensions between the former couple, who have been embroiled in a public and personal feud since their divorce.

Amritha Suressh’s complaint alleges that Bala has used social media as a platform to insult her, causing emotional distress not only to her but also to their daughter. In addition to the social media posts, Suressh claims that Actor Bala violated their divorce agreement, which expressly forbids any personal attacks. In a statement, she said, “He is constantly disturbing me and my daughter, even giving paid online interviews about us,” underscoring the emotional toll that these actions have taken on their family.

The complaint includes allegations that Bala’s online behaviour has caused emotional harm to their daughter, with videos posted by Bala exacerbating the situation. Their daughter also spoke out, releasing a video on social media in which she shared the emotional distress she has experienced due to her father’s actions. This, coupled with Amritha’s claims of harassment, has drawn significant attention to the legal complexities of their post-divorce relationship.

Actor Bala’s arrest also brings focus to juvenile justice issues, as the charges include disturbing the emotional well-being of a minor. This development has raised broader questions about the role of social media in high-profile personal disputes and the legal recourse available to protect the privacy and emotional health of children involved in such cases.

Bala, also the brother of prominent Tamil director Siva, plans to approach the Kerala High Court to have the case quashed, according to his lawyer, Fathima Siddique. The actor’s legal team remains adamant that the case will not hold up in court and that the charges are exaggerated.

Bala has had a longstanding career in the South Indian film industry, with notable roles in Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu cinema. His most recent project, Bad Boyz (2024), directed by Omar, faced its own set of controversies, further adding to the actor’s turbulent year.

The arrest marks another chapter in the ongoing public dispute between Bala and Amritha, one that shows no signs of resolution anytime soon.
