Shankar Mahadevan: The New Ambassador of Storm Festival
Storm, the three night, two day festival, now in its second edition, is about to cook up a real storm with multi-talented Shankar Mahadevan taking up the role of ambassador and scouting out for potential musical talent.
The extremely popular camp-out event is held annually at Coorg and is based on some firm Kodava ideals . With the idea to respect culture and natural environments, special steps have been taken to save energy and make the festival eco-friendly. The festival not only employs solar panels but also practices recycling; for example, last year’s materials have being used creatively for the second edition as well. Also all the bottles used have been given to a recycling plant too in keeping with the concept of recycling.
Storm Festival has always had a strict policy when it came to pollution and drug abuse. Inspired by the surreal nature of Coorg, organizers N.A. Lavin Uthappa and N.A. Sachin Bopanna have strived to maintain ethic and balance between art and nature in a musical bonanza that feature local and international thespians. In their own words, “the festival aims at spreading social awareness messages like – love and respect for the environment, minimizing usage of plastic as well as discouraging consumption of drugs, through renowned musicians via the medium of music.”
Last year, Mahadevan collaborated with wizards Indian Ocean at Storm for what proved to be one of the most memorable performances. Now, adopting the role of ambassador too, the third edition is all set and raring to go .
Storm Festival will be held in the popular grounds known as Storm Fields in February. The exact dates are yet to be announced.[newsfooter]
