Trump Pardons Todd and Julie Chrisley in Stunning Move: “Chrisley Knows Best” Stars Set to Walk Free
In a dramatic Oval Office phone call that quickly went viral, former President Donald Trump announced he is pardoning reality TV stars Todd and Julie Chrisley, best known for their USA Network series Chrisley Knows Best. The move comes nearly two years after the couple was convicted of fraud and tax evasion charges stemming from a scheme to defraud banks of more than $30 million.
Speaking directly to their children, Savannah and Chase Chrisley, Trump shared the news in an emotional moment, which was posted to X (formerly Twitter) by a White House aide.
“It’s a terrible thing, but it’s a great thing because your parents are going to be free and clean,” Trump said. “We’ll try getting it done by tomorrow.”
From Fraud Convictions to Freedom
Todd Chrisley and Julie Chrisley were sentenced in 2022 to 12 and 7 years in prison, respectively, after being found guilty of wire fraud, conspiracy, and tax evasion. Prosecutors accused the Chrisleys of falsifying documents to secure millions in loans and then walking away from financial obligations through a manipulated bankruptcy. Their sentences were later reduced, but they have remained behind bars until now.
The pardon comes after months of public advocacy by Savannah Chrisley, who appealed directly to Trump and highlighted alleged constitutional violations and political targeting in her parents’ case. Savannah’s emotional Instagram video, posted after receiving the call from Trump, shows her walking into a Sam’s Club when she got the news: “So both of my parents are coming home tonight or tomorrow and I still don’t believe it’s real!”

Political Influence Meets Reality TV
The Chrisleys’ saga has become more than a legal battle—it’s now a political flashpoint. Savannah Chrisley spoke at the Republican National Convention in July 2024, where she claimed her family had been targeted by “rogue prosecutors in Fulton County” for their conservative values and public profile.
Standing behind Trump during the Oval Office call was Alice Marie Johnson, the former federal inmate whose sentence Trump commuted in 2018 and who now serves as his pardon czar. Trump credited Johnson for playing a key role in advancing the pardons of Todd Chrisley and Julie Chrisley.
Public and Legal Reactions
Todd and Julie’s attorney, Alex Little, told Fox News Digital that the pardon “corrects a deep injustice” and proves the case was politically motivated. “Thanks to President Trump, the Chrisley family can now begin healing and rebuilding their lives,” Little added.
Supporters of the pardon hail it as an act of justice and compassion, while critics question whether fame and political connections influenced the decision. Either way, the Chrisley family reunion is now imminent—and reality TV’s most talked-about couple is getting a second chance.
