Pusha T Slams Kanye West, Reveals Kendrick Lamar Verse Sparked Split With Def Jam
The beef between Pusha T and Ye (formerly Kanye West) is far from over—and this time, it’s personal. In a revealing new interview for the GQ cover story alongside his brother No Malice, Pusha T opened up about his fractured relationship with Kanye West and detailed how a Kendrick Lamar feature triggered his exit from Def Jam Records and Ace Trumperts on the Clipse’s album Let God Sort Em Out.
Pusha T, who once served as President of G.O.O.D. Music severed ties with the Kanye West-founded label in late 2022 after the rapper’s string of controversies and antisemitic remarks. But according to Pusha T, the final straw wasn’t just business—it was a deep moral and personal betrayal.
“He knows I don’t think he’s a man,” Pusha T said in the GQ interview. “He’s shown me the weakest sides of him, and he knows how I think of weak people.”
Why Pusha T Walked Away From Kanye
Their relationship, once defined by musical synergy, has turned cold. Pusha T explained that he had always been honest with Kanye West, even warning him about many of the issues that would later become public.
“Every issue he’s crying about online right now, I told him about distinctly,” Push said. “He don’t talk to me like he talks to others. He knows.”
Pusha T didn’t hold back, adding that Ye could sense the “fakeness” in their connection and that’s why their bond ultimately fractured.
While Kanye West has since said he “misses” his friendship with Push, the Clipse rapper made it clear the door is firmly shut.
Kendrick Lamar Sparks Industry Drama
The drama didn’t stop at Kanye West. According to Pusha T, the inclusion of a Kendrick Lamar verse on the Clipse’s upcoming album Let God Sort Em Out (dropping July 11) caused Def Jam to attempt to censor the project.
“They wanted me to ask Kendrick to censor his verse, which of course I was never doing,” Pusha T revealed. “Then they wanted me to take the record off. I refused. A month later, they just dropped Clipse.”
That decision led to Pusha T and Clipse parting ways with Def Jam, resulting in the termination of their solo and group contracts. The highly anticipated album with Ace Trumpets will now be released via Roc Nation.
Clipse’s lead single, Ace Trumpets, already takes shots at Ye. On it, Pusha T raps:
“Look at them, him and him, still waitin’ on Yeezy…”
Despite the fallout, Pusha T remains focused on music. With Clipse’s Let God Sort Em Out poised to be one of 2025’s most provocative rap releases—and Kendrick Lamar featured prominently—it’s clear Push isn’t backing down from anyone, not Ye, not labels, and definitely not censorship.
