With an aim to create awareness and to reach the larger audience concerning various ailments faced by people, Narayana Health (NH) has come up with an initiative where doctors sit in an interactive session every month discussing the critical health disorders and the remedies available.
The programme, namely NH Dialogues, started last year on September 29, marking ‘World Heart Day’. The discussions are in an episodic format showed on their Youtube channel.
“The initiative was first taken by Dr. Devi Shetty, who is a cardiac surgeon and the chairman and founder of Narayana Health. The discussion comprised mainly how many kinds of heart disease exist, what the reasons they occur, what are the methods of their prevention and what are some of the conventional thinkings associated with heart disease that are wrong,” said a spokesperson of NH.
He added, “It was great success. We tried to answer some of the questions put up by various patients and doctors on our website and the response was phenomenal. Since then, we decided to continue the programme picking up topics such as kidney, heart, liver, cancer and so on, which needs tertiary care facility to treat.”
Specialists from respective clinical departments discuss the topic with Dr. Shetty during the interaction. Till now discussions have been done on diabetes, heart, cancer, liver and kidney. There were also brief discussions on obesity and stroke.
The target audience is mainly the internet users, and the medium is chosen to keep that in mind.
“The web has a larger reach and people can participate from anywhere without having to call and travel. Plus, we put up notifications on our Facebook page few days before the panel discussion is aired.’
The latest telecast was on 7th April at 11 AM, where the panel discussion was on ‘Liver Health’.
