Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s Omega Deal Ignites Rumours ‘He’s the Next James Bond’

Could Aaron Taylor-Johnson be the next James Bond? A new partnership between the British actor and Omega Watches is sending fans and media into a full-blown 007 frenzy.

This week, Omega, the iconic Swiss luxury watchmaker, officially announced Taylor-Johnson as one of its new global ambassadors. While the press release steered clear of directly referencing James Bond, that hasn’t stopped rampant speculation, especially since Omega has long been synonymous with the Bond franchise. Daniel Craig wore the brand’s Seamaster line throughout his tenure as the legendary MI6 agent.

The news has triggered a wave of media headlines, with The Daily Mail proclaiming, “Hollywood star drops MAJOR hint he could be in line to be the next 007,” while The Sun doubled down, adding, “Huge hint Hollywood star has landed James Bond role as he signs new deal with link to 007.”

From Watch Ambassador to MI6 Agent?

Taylor-Johnson, whose name has circulated in the Bond rumour mill for several years, visited Omega’s factory in Biel, Switzerland, to kick off the ambassadorship. During his visit, he expressed deep admiration for the craftsmanship that went into the timepieces.

“Now, after visiting the factory, I am in awe of the skill required to manufacture such a luxurious product,” Aaron Taylor-Johnson said, adding that he’s always appreciated fine watches — particularly Omega.

Though the actor opted to wear a Speedmaster “First Omega in Space” instead of the more Bond-traditional Seamaster, the symbolism wasn’t lost on anyone. Priced at £7,100, the Speedmaster is a sleek, steel-cased nod to space-age exploration and timeless design, much like the Bond persona itself.

More Clues or Clever Marketing?

Omega President and CEO Raynald Aeschlimann praised Taylor-Johnson as a versatile performer but didn’t touch the Bond question directly.

“Aaron is such a versatile actor, with a range that covers action, thriller, romance and much more,” Aeschlimann said. “His passion for watches is also clear, so we’re delighted to welcome him as a new ambassador.”

Still, the timing couldn’t be more intriguing. The Bond franchise has been searching for Daniel Craig’s successor since No Time To Die closed out his chapter in 2021. Other Omega ambassadors, such as Eddie Redmayne, have also been floated as contenders, but none have generated buzz quite like Taylor-Johnson.

The Next 007? Fans Think So

Aaron Taylor-Johnson has the right ingredients: British, suave, and already proven in action-heavy roles from Bullet Train to Kick-Ass. Now, with Omega — the official watch of James Bond — firmly behind him, the connection feels stronger than ever.

Whether this is just a smart brand alignment or a carefully orchestrated prelude to an official 007 announcement remains to be seen. But if this is Omega’s way of dropping breadcrumbs, fans are following closely, martini in hand.
