Kawasaki Unveils 2027 KX450F and KX250F: More Power, Smarter Tech, and the Return of the “F”
Kawasaki has officially unveiled its 2027 KX450F and KX250F motocross motorcycles, marking one of the most significant updates to its four-stroke lineup in recent years. Alongside the motocross models, the company also introduced the cross-country-focused KX450FX and KX250FX variants.
One of the headline changes is the return of the “F” designation, which now clearly identifies Kawasaki’s four-stroke motocross machines following the reintroduction of full-size two-stroke models to the brand’s lineup.
2027 KX450F Gets Major Performance Overhaul
The 2027 Kawasaki KX450F receives substantial upgrades aimed at improving power delivery, handling, and rider confidence. At the heart of the machine is a revised 449cc four-stroke engine featuring updated intake and exhaust systems and optimized fuel-injection settings.
Kawasaki says the changes deliver stronger low-end response while significantly boosting mid-range and high-rpm performance. Riders can expect quicker throttle response and a broader powerband for aggressive racing conditions.
The motorcycle also features an all-new aluminum perimeter frame, a revised swingarm, and a longer wheelbase. These chassis updates are designed to improve rear-wheel traction and high-speed stability.
Adding to the premium package is a complete Brembo braking system, including front and rear components for enhanced stopping power and control.

Advanced Rideology Technology Takes Center Stage
A major technological leap arrives with the new Rideology The App KX2 platform. Unlike previous versions, the updated system integrates GPS functionality and expanded performance monitoring.
Through Bluetooth connectivity and a built-in GPS module, riders can track lap times, throttle position, engine RPM, gear selection, engine temperatures, and battery voltage. The system also includes maintenance reminders and an ECU-linked hour meter.
Kawasaki has also enhanced launch control and traction control settings, giving riders greater customization options directly through the smartphone app.
KX250F Gains More Power and Improved Suspension
While the KX250F receives fewer changes than its larger sibling, Kawasaki has still delivered meaningful performance upgrades.
Engine refinements include a redesigned combustion chamber, revised exhaust system, updated fuel injection mapping, and a larger-capacity hydraulic clutch. The manufacturer claims these updates increase horsepower and improve torque throughout the rev range.
Suspension settings have also been revised, with updates to the Showa components aimed at improving front-end feel, traction, and overall stability.
The bike’s bodywork receives a lighter, more aggressive design, reinforcing its race-ready appearance.
Cross-Country Models Receive Off-Road Enhancements
The KX450FX and KX250FX inherit many of the motocross models’ upgrades while adding features tailored for off-road competition.
The KX450FX benefits from a translucent fuel tank, redesigned skid plate with linkage protection, slimmer handguards, and an improved side stand. Both FX models feature cross-country-specific suspension settings and practical features designed for extended trail and endurance riding.

Kawasaki has confirmed the following U.S. pricing for its 2027 lineup:
