For those who were eagerly awaiting Greek pianist, keyboardist and composer Yiannis Chryssomallis, aka Yanni’s enchanting performance in 2013, have got yet another chance to rekindle hopes of watching the master of keys live this April. As part of his world tour, Yanni will be performing in Chennai and Bangalore on April 14 and 18 respectively. After wrapping up his act in India, he will be performing in Colombo, Sri Lanka the same week.
Yanni’s most remembered performance in India, nearly 15 years ago in 1997, was marked by his legendary performance at the Taj Mahal. The artist is known best for his instrumental compositions that tactfully blends elements of jazz, soft rock, classical and world music. Interestingly, the self-taught musician imparts an inadvertent lesson to all musicians by means of developing his ‘shorthand technique’ instead of reading standard musical notes – that music can be learnt in any form; one doesn’t have to stick to traditional methods of education.
