Qandle makes use of latest technology – AI, ML and Analytics

Nowadays, HR has become a technology-first department for most growing companies, says Chayan Mukhopadhyay, Co-Founder and CEO, of Qandle – an all-in-one HR platform. He believes this has begun transforming the HR industry radically. Within the last seven to 10 years, HR tech companies have started making it faster and easier for bigger organizations. Technology has forayed and taken over most of the mundane tasks in the HR sector.

In an interaction with MyBigPlunge, Chayan Mukhopadhyay gives an insight of how technology is transforming the HR industry:

How has the Human Resources (HR) sector transformed/evolved in the past 10 years?

Over the last 30 years, technology adoption has increased drastically in all spheres of our lives. In the 90s, HRs majorly spent time maintaining employee records and policies. Then in the 2000s, the focus diverted towards talent management with some intervention of technology. This remained for about a decade or so. However, nowadays, HR has become a technology-first department for most growing companies.

This has begun transforming the HR industry radically. Within the last seven to 10 years, HR tech companies have started making it faster and easier for bigger organizations. Technology has forayed and taken over most of the mundane tasks in the HR sector. Right from daily reporting, to leave management, employee engagement, guidelines etc., Technology has been able to replace manual functioning, and releasing bandwidth for HR professionals to take on more strategic roles.

Has the use of technology streamlined the recruitment process?

Technology has had a big impact on the recruitment processes. Right from the task of shortlisting, to interviewing, to checking culture fitment, predictive analytics and AI/ML are playing a big role. The whole process has become more objective and has the potential to minimize human bias, and make it fairer for the applicants while ensuring better hires for the organizations.

What is the role of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Analytics in today’s HR? Does each new technology play a different role?

AI adds a lot of value to the HR tech industry. It basically enables one to figure out insights required to achieve a task, whereas machine learning is a set of processes that prompt AI to analyze and perform a human-style functioning. Together, these are implemented widely in HR related tasks to save time and work including- recruitments, CV scrutinization, employee data, patterns, productivity etc. Simultaneously, another word abuzz is ‘data analytics’. It might be surprising for many that, analytics is simply being able to analyze the data one has, and it is a part of almost every module of HR like – performances, leave , attendance , Recruitment,  User management etc.

Will technology hit the human aspect of recruitment?

When it is about analyzing based on facts and figures, technology can do that effectively and better than humans. However, there are softer aspects which only other humans can judge (as of now). So, I would say that technology helps reduce the unwanted biases inherent in us based on our experiences and environment, but it does not affect our ability to make decisions. It actually aids humans to make better hiring decisions by providing data.

How does Qandle implement technology into its recruitment and retirement process?
