Why ‘Sirât’ Matters
With themes of spiritual searching, generational trauma, and cultural collision, Sirât reflects Laxe’s signature poetic storytelling, set against a visually hypnotic Moroccan landscape. The film represents a new wave of Maghreb cinema gaining traction on the global stage, and its success at Cannes is expected to fuel further interest in North African narratives.
For cinephiles eager to watch 2025’s breakout foreign film of the year, Sirât is headed to screens across the globe and the rest of the world can also watch on Mubi, proving once again that stories rooted in local landscapes can speak volumes on an international level.
