Swiggy Launches ‘Delivering Safely’ Nationwide Charter for Delivery Partner Safety

Swiggy, India’s leading on-demand convenience platform, has introduced a nationwide road safety charter, ‘Delivering Safely,’ to reinforce its commitment to the safety and well-being of its delivery partners. The program encompasses a range of safety training initiatives, improved safety gear, and the implementation of advanced telematics to consolidate all safety policies and provisions under the Swiggy umbrella.

With over 3 lakh delivery partners spread across 600+ cities in the country, Swiggy is dedicated to providing unparalleled convenience to its users while ensuring a safer environment for its delivery partners. These partners cover a staggering 3.6 billion kilometers annually, highlighting the scale and importance of safety measures in place.

Swiggy’s Delivering Safely charter builds on existing safety measures, including accidental medical coverage, free on-demand ambulance services, loss of pay coverage, road safety workshops, provision of safety gear, and the implementation of advanced telematics.

Accidental Medical Coverage is a key feature of the charter, offering coverage of INR 2 lakh along with INR 10 lakh death cover. Swiggy has disbursed over INR 31 Crores in insurance claims in FY23, underscoring its commitment to supporting delivery partners in times of need.

In an industry-first move, Swiggy introduced a free on-demand ambulance service for its delivery partners and their families, with an average response time of 11 minutes. This initiative aims to provide immediate assistance in case of emergencies, ensuring the well-being of Swiggy’s delivery partners.

To support delivery partners during recovery from an incident, Swiggy provides a minimum guaranteed amount as loss of pay, pegged to the average income earned in the respective city. This measure ensures continued income for delivery partners during their recovery period.

Swiggy also conducts road safety workshops in collaboration with state traffic police departments to promote awareness and safe driving practices among its delivery partners. These workshops aim to educate delivery partners about road safety regulations and best practices, ensuring safer roads for everyone.

Additionally, Swiggy provides access to advanced road safety gear such as reflector helmets, jackets, and raincoats to its delivery partners. These gear ensure that delivery partners are visible and protected while on the road.

Furthermore, Swiggy is developing advanced telematics to monitor driver behavior and identify at-risk delivery partners. This data-driven approach will help Swiggy provide specialized training to improve driving behavior and ensure the safety of its delivery partners.

By educating, energizing, and equipping its fleet with the right training and gear, Swiggy aims to continue delivering safety for its partners while providing unparalleled convenience to its customers.
