Delhivery’s OS1 Revolutionizes Meal Distribution: Akshaya Patra Partners for Efficient Operations

Delhivery Ltd, India’s foremost integrated supply chain services provider, has announced a groundbreaking collaboration with The Akshaya Patra Foundation, the world’s largest NGO-run school feeding program, and the implementation arm of the PM POSHAN Abhiyaan. The strategic deployment of Delhivery’s OS1 stack, powered by the DispatchOne application, aims to revolutionize meal distribution, enabling greater efficiency and transparency for Akshaya Patra’s monumental mission.

Empowering the Akshaya Patra Foundation:

The Akshaya Patra Foundation, known for its vast scale of operations across 72 cities and 24,000 schools, is set to leverage Delhivery’s OS1 stack to enhance operational efficiency in meal distribution. DispatchOne, an integral part of the OS1 platform, will be utilized to execute and monitor the delivery of meals from centralized kitchens to partner schools.

Saanil Bhaskaran, COO at The Akshaya Patra Foundation, emphasized the significance of this partnership, stating, “Given our scale of operations across 72 cities and 24,000 schools, achieving operational efficiency is a major focus area. With DispatchOne’s advanced capabilities, we aim to deliver meals to children more effectively and with greater transparency. This will further strengthen our cost reduction efforts and allow us to channel our resources towards serving more schools that require our support.”

DispatchOne’s Operational Advantages:

DispatchOne, currently operational in five cities—Bhubaneswar, Puducherry, Kuppam, Nellore, and Rourkela—provides Akshaya Patra with real-time tracking and visibility throughout the entire delivery process. This technological solution optimizes resource allocation, enabling simultaneous delivery to multiple locations while reducing transit times through route optimization capabilities.

This technological advancement aligns with Akshaya Patra’s commitment to providing nutritious meals to school children daily. The nationwide rollout of DispatchOne is expected to be completed by mid-2024, supporting the delivery of approximately 2.1 million meals a day.

Delhivery’s Vision for Positive Social Impact:

Kapil Bharti, Chief Technology Officer and Co-founder of Delhivery, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “At Delhivery, we believe cutting-edge technology must power solutions to complex supply chain and logistics challenges. OS1 allows us to bring our logistics technology expertise to support Akshaya Patra’s crucial mission of providing food to millions of school children daily. We are humbled to partner with the Foundation, as this has enabled us to deploy our technology towards creating positive social impact.”

DispatchOne: Revolutionizing Last-Mile Delivery:

DispatchOne, Delhivery’s flagship last-mile delivery management solution on the OS1 platform, serves as a self-service, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution. Operating in India and the United States, it empowers enterprises and SMEs to seamlessly execute planned and on-demand distribution operations. Delhivery envisions expanding the OS1 product suite with an end-to-end Transportation Management System later this year.

This collaboration between Delhivery and The Akshaya Patra Foundation stands as a testament to the transformative power of technology in addressing crucial social challenges. As DispatchOne facilitates a streamlined and transparent meal distribution process, it not only strengthens the operational capabilities of Akshaya Patra but also underscores the potential of innovative logistics solutions to drive positive change in critical sectors. This partnership marks a significant milestone in the intersection of technology and philanthropy, exemplifying the potential for impactful collaborations between the corporate and non-profit sectors.
