New Song: Vir Das’s Take on the Upcoming Elections

Comedian-actor Vir Das’s comedy rock band Alien Chutney is back to prominence after quite a while with a new song “Say Nah” along with a satirical music video that takes jabs at the polity, high-end bureaucracy and journalists who feed the political frenzy with their own agendas. With Kaizad Gherda on keyboards, Sidd Coutto on drums and Vir Das on vocals, the parody asks the country to ‘say na’ to all the political hatred this elections. Vir Das’s message is: “No matter who you’re voting for, this election we could all use a laugh. Say Nah to anger! Enjoy.”

Only recently did Shillong Chamber Choir release their single and music video “Just One” (read here)with the same message pertaining to the upcoming elections. It’s a good sign that musicians are raising awareness in the minds of disgruntled citizens about the importance of a single vote; and more so, the significance of an informed opinion.
