IVCA Conclave 2024: Pioneering the Future of Alternative Assets in India

The 13th edition of the Indian Venture and Alternate Capital Association (IVCA) Conclave, held in Mumbai on February 26–27, 2024, emerged as a pivotal event setting new benchmarks for the growth and development of the alternative investment industry in India. The conclave witnessed a gathering of industry luminaries, limited partners (LPs), private equity firms (PEs), venture capitalists (VCs), family offices, and distinguished government officials, highlighting the sector’s vibrant ecosystem and potential for exponential growth.




Karthik Reddy, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Blume Ventures and Chairperson of IVCA, commended the industry’s economic progress, stating, “As we conclude the IVCA Conclave 2024, let us reflect on the alternate capital industry’s remarkable journey of meticulous economic development, which positions us for the phase leading to India@100.” He emphasized the industry’s alignment with the vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Bharat Nirman,’ highlighting the significant impact of PE-VC funding in generating revenue, creating jobs, and contributing to tax revenues.

The IVCA Conclave 2024 attracted over 900 delegates from more than 330 unique funds/firms, reaffirming its status as a premier forum for the investment community in India. The diverse and high-caliber participation included 762 GPs, 55 global LPs, and over 100 domestic LPs and family offices, with women accounting for 33% of the total delegates.

Esteemed government officials, including Shri S. Ramann, CMD of Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI); Shri Ananth Narayan, Whole Time Member of Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI); Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh, Secretary of Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT); and Shri Pradeep Ramakrishnan, ED of International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA), shared valuable insights and announcements at the conclave.

One of the key highlights of the event was the unveiling of the 2024 edition of the India Trend Book by IVCA and EY. This comprehensive resource provides insights into the evolving landscape of the alternative investment industry, revealing that while 2023 witnessed muted startup investments, fundraising, and exits had thrived.

The IVCA Conclave 2024 featured engaging panel discussions with industry veterans and members of the IVCA Executive Committee, including Karthik Reddy, Ashley Menezes, Nipun Sahni, Vineet Rai, Padmaja Ruparel, Rahul Khanna, Rema Subramanian, Anjali Bansal, Shagoofa Rashid Khan, and Neha Grover. These discussions explored various aspects of the alternate capital industry and highlighted strategies for driving inclusive and sustainable growth.
