The United Kingdom government welcomed PM Modi with a Guard of Honor on November 12th despite various protests due to the perceived intolerance back here in India.
Narendra Modi also announced on November 13th that the two countries are signing a civil nuclear agreement which aims to show mutual trust. Adding to this, Britain showed its support to India in the country’s bid for permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council.
“We have today signed civil nuclear agreement, which is a symbol of our mutual trust,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in a joint statement with Cameron while thanking his British counterpart for their support to India’s bid for permanent membership for UN Security Council.
The British PM said, India and the UK are natural partners being the oldest and largest democracies. “We both have big ambitions for our relationship,” the British PM said.
PM Modi also discussed various issues such as the student visa issue and signed as many as 27 deals so far. Various companies like Merlin Entertainments, Genus ABS, Solar PV generator, The UK’s Kloudpad Mobility Research Ltd, cloudBuy, Holland & Barrett International etc have either signed deals to start new businesses in India or make an investment in the country.
With one more day of his visit, both the countries are expected to sign a number of deals, agreements and mutual investments.
