Blond ‘Donald Trump’ Buffalo Saved From Eid Sacrifice After Viral Fame in Bangladesh
A rare albino buffalo in Bangladesh, nicknamed “Donald Trump,” has captured global attention after being dramatically spared from Eid al-Adha sacrifice following government intervention.
The nearly 700-kilogram buffalo, known for its unusual blond tuft resembling the hairstyle of Donald Trump, was reportedly moments away from ritual slaughter before officials stepped in due to mounting public interest and security concerns.
Viral Buffalo Becomes National Sensation
The buffalo quickly became an internet sensation after videos and photos circulated widely on social media ahead of the Eid al-Adha festival. Crowds reportedly traveled from across Bangladesh to catch a glimpse of the rare animal, whose calm personality and striking appearance made it stand out during the country’s busy livestock trading season.
The animal’s owner, farmer Ziauddin Mridha, revealed that the nickname originated from his younger brother, who noticed the buffalo’s blond fringe resembled the former U.S. president’s famous hairstyle.
What started as a humorous comparison soon turned into a nationwide phenomenon, with curious visitors flocking to the farm and social media users sharing memes and videos of the unusual buffalo.

Government Steps In to Save the Buffalo
According to Bangladesh home ministry officials, the buffalo had already been sold for sacrifice during Eid al-Adha when authorities intervened at the last moment.
Officials cited concerns about crowd control and public safety after the animal’s popularity surged online. The country’s home affairs minister, Salahuddin Ahmed, reportedly ordered the buffalo to be spared, instructed that the buyer receive a refund, and arranged for the animal to be transferred to the national zoo in Dhaka.
One ministry official described the public response as “unusual,” adding that the buffalo’s viral fame made the situation increasingly difficult to manage.
Rare Albino Buffalo Draws Attention
Albino buffaloes are extremely uncommon in Bangladesh, where dark-colored cattle dominate livestock markets. The animal’s pale appearance, combined with its blond tuft, made it instantly recognizable among thousands of cattle prepared for Eid sacrifices.
Mridha explained that the buffalo also required extra care compared to ordinary livestock. He said the animal needed frequent feeding, regular bathing, and constant attention due to its rare condition.
While unusual livestock occasionally attract local attention during Eid season, few have reached the level of celebrity achieved by the now-famous “Donald Trump” buffalo.
Social Media Reacts to Buffalo’s Rescue
News of the buffalo being spared quickly spread online, with many social media users celebrating the decision. Some joked that the buffalo had become “too famous to sacrifice,” while others praised authorities for preserving such a rare animal.
The story also sparked international curiosity, blending politics, internet culture, and religious tradition into one of the most unexpected viral stories of the Eid holiday season.
Now safely headed to the national zoo, the blond buffalo’s future appears far different from what was originally planned — transforming from an Eid sacrifice into a full-fledged internet celebrity.
