BluSmart and ASDC Collaborate to Empower Women Through ‘Project Sakhi’

BluSmart, India’s leading fully integrated electric vehicle (EV) ride-hailing service and EV charging network, has signed a groundbreaking Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Automotive Skill Development Council (ASDC). This collaboration, under the banner of ‘Project Sakhi,’ aims to empower women by providing them with skill sets and training in the dynamic field of urban mobility.

BluSmart and ASDC have joined forces to offer comprehensive driver skills training to 250 women in the Delhi National Capital Region (NCR). The primary objective of ‘Project Sakhi’ is to open new avenues of employment for women in the evolving transportation sector.

ASDC will take charge of implementing a three-month training program, equipping the women candidates with the necessary skills and knowledge required for safe and efficient driving. The curriculum will cover various aspects of driving, focusing on safety, navigation, and customer service. BluSmart, as the pioneer in electric ride-hailing services, will supplement this training with sessions on electric vehicles, familiarizing the candidates with the unique features and benefits of EVs.

An integral part of BluSmart’s contribution to ‘Project Sakhi‘ is the real-life experiences shared by existing women driver partners. These inspirational figures will offer insights into their journeys, further motivating and empowering the candidates. BluSmart, serving as the placement partner, will extend employment opportunities to the trained women drivers. The candidates will receive Qualification Standards certification from ASDC post undergoing standardized screening and driving tests.

Commenting on the partnership, Anirudh Arun, Co-founder & COO of BluSmart, expressed enthusiasm, “We are excited to partner with ASDC to pioneer this initiative aimed at empowering women in the urban mobility sector. This MoU strengthens our commitment to gender diversity and inclusivity in the transportation sector. By providing training and a supportive network, we are not just creating job opportunities as drivers; we are fostering a community of empowered women contributing to sustainable and inclusive urban transport.”

Mr. Arindam Lahiri, CEO of ASDC, echoed the excitement, stating, “ASDC is thrilled to provide a platform for an inclusive and diverse workforce for clean energy ride experience for residents of Delhi NCR. This partnership with BluSmart aligns perfectly with our commitment to skill development and empowerment. We believe this initiative will set a precedent for more inclusive practices within the automotive industry.”

This collaboration between BluSmart and ASDC goes beyond traditional skill development programs. It represents a holistic approach to fostering a sense of community among women in the urban mobility sector. By combining skill development, knowledge sharing, and real-life experiences, BluSmart is proud to be at the forefront of initiatives that facilitate the growth and success of women drivers while simultaneously revolutionizing the future of transportation.

As ‘Project Sakhi‘ takes shape, it is expected to serve as a shining example of how industry leaders can contribute to creating a more inclusive and diverse workforce, particularly in sectors traditionally dominated by male counterparts. The collaboration between BluSmart and ASDC stands as a beacon for future endeavors in the automotive and urban mobility industries, emphasizing the importance of gender diversity and empowerment.
