Zone Startups, in partnership with the Govt. of India’s Department of Science and Technology and Innovation Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED), will set out to identify innovative startups in both countries and offer them the means to scale globally across global markets.

The initiative’s objective, according to Zone Startups India, is to promote setting up mutual startup ventures so as to further innovation and create more employment opportunities in both countries.

The startup accelerator program puts focus on women entrepreneurs looking to scale their innovative products and/or services across markets – globally – and is part of the Canada-India Science & Technology Cooperation agreement.

Dr. Anita Gupta, Advisor and Associate Head of the National Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board, GoI, said, “The Department of Science and Technology, GoI is partnering with the Department of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, Canada to accelerate innovation, value chain, and technology commercialization through initiatives having special focus on women entrepreneurs of both our countries. Such a bilateral engagement facilitated by key stakeholders, government, accelerators, incubators, and companies aims to lead ways for the better economic and social development of both countries.”

In line with the same, in order to promote global commercialisation of India and Canada’s startups initiatives, the Govt. of Telangana’s startup incubator, T-Hub, has also tied up with Canada’s Communitech – which includes 1400 plus tech companies.

“We will be providing a platform and opportunity for startups and corporates from both countries to access each other with support provided on the ground in a structured, programmatic way. This will help make our corresponding ecosystems vibrant, technology-driven, and also driven by international aspirations” says Jay Krishnan, CEO, T-hub.
