Leicester's dream run might find its destination this weekend

[dropcap]H[/dropcap]ave you wondered anytime recently, why a certain ‘#Leicester’ is trending in the list of top 10 in India? Well, the story is no less romantic than any classic.

The story is about a team, who were on the verge of relegation last season and this year not only are they in the top of the table in the English Premier League but they also have a realistic chance of winning the title this week at none other than the Old Trafford!

This has never ever happened in the history of English Premier League, let alone in the history of 132 years of Leicester. For almost more than half of the season everyone has considered their table position a fluke. Yes, the bigger teams like Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester City have floundered. But, it was no reason to even hint a thought that it was Leicester’s year.

And why would it be? Did they have a great summer transfer market? No. Did they have hugely popular players? No. The only thing they truly invested in was their manager, Claudio Ranieri.

A manager, who was dubbed to never win the title by former club owner Roman Abrahamovic during his Chelsea years, is answering his critics. No one thought it was good move to appoint a manager, who has won nine trophies in his managerial stint of 29 years.

All sight being on defending champions Chelsea, it was made easy for the giant killers, Leicester City, to softly emerge without getting the hype.

Who knew Jamie Vardy? Or the PFA player of the year Riyad Mahrez? No one ought to because no one expects them to showcase what they have just done against the likes of Wayne Rooney, Eden Hazard, Coutinho, Ozil and Sanchez.

Determination, patience, resilience, grit and above all, passion, Leicester City football club has showed it all. They may not have the star players but the one thing they have showed to the world is how football is meant to be played. They have showed no individual player is a threat against a team playing well together and coordinating.

For the U 17 Indian players, who would be representing India next year in the U 17 World cup, there is no bigger an inspiration. Leicester City has showed the world that there is nothing called UNDERDOGS.

Fun fact, the chances of Leicester winning the league this year was much lesser than scientists able to find alien in outer space. Last month James Weller rejected the cash-out offer of £25,000, backing his team to complete the job and he stands to win a staggering £50,000 from his original £10 bet.

In a recent interview, Ranieri told media, “If results are good it’s good. If not good it doesn’t matter. We’ve done our job – to save the team. Now it’s to enjoy the matches, make our fans proud – then we can do something more. But not the nightmare, the obsession, to make something different. No. Continue, let’s play.”
