Netflix Top 10: KPop Demon Hunters Breaks Records, Wednesday Holds Strong, and Hostage Debuts Big

Netflix’s Top 10 list for the week of August 18, 2025, proves that audiences around the globe can’t get enough of KPop Demon Hunters. The animated musical has officially become Netflix’s most popular English-language film of all time, boasting a staggering 236 million total views since release.

In its latest week, the movie added 25.4 million views, securing the No. 1 spot once again. The buzz has been amplified by the KPop Demon Hunters Sing-Along Event, which took place in theaters worldwide. Its soundtrack has also made history by landing four songs simultaneously in the Billboard Hot 100 Top 10, a first for an animated film.

Now, with a special Sing-Along version available to stream on Netflix, fans are taking the party home.

Strong Showings for Films and Romances

At No. 2 on the English Films list is Night Always Comes, starring Vanessa Kirby, which has racked up 12.3 million views with its tense story of survival and desperation. Meanwhile, the romantic drama My Oxford Year, starring Corey Mylchreest and Sofia Carson, continues to win hearts, landing at No. 4 with 5.9 million views.

Adam Sandler’s Happy Gilmore 2 refuses to leave the leaderboard, staying strong in its fifth consecutive week on the Top 10 with 4.5 million views. The sequel also set a new Nielsen streaming record earlier this summer, proving nostalgia still sells.

Wednesday and Hostage Lead English TV

On the TV side, Netflix’s Wednesday Season 2, Part 1 remains queen of the charts. The Jenna Ortega-led gothic hit pulled in 13.4 million views, securing the No. 1 spot for the third week in a row. The original Wednesday Season 1 even climbed back into the Top 5 with 4 million views, showing just how sticky the franchise is with audiences, and Wednesday Season 2 is doing the same.

Newcomer Hostage, a British-French political thriller starring Corey Mylchreest, Julie Delpy, and Suranne Jones, debuted at No. 2 with 10.8 million views. The tense series blends politics and personal stakes, giving Netflix yet another international breakout hit.

Docuseries are also making noise: Fit For TV: The Reality of the Biggest Loser landed at No. 3 (8.5 million views), while America’s Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys entered at No. 9 with 1.9 million.
