Grammys Reportedly Want Drake’s ‘ICEMAN’ Trilogy Submitted for 2027 Awards

Drake is once again at the center of Grammy speculation following reports that the Recording Academy allegedly reached out to his camp regarding submissions for the 2027 Grammy Awards. The rumors arrive amid Drizzy’s historic chart domination with his latest releases, ICEMAN, HABIBTI, and MAID OF HONOUR, which recently debuted at No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3 on the Billboard 200 simultaneously.

According to online reports circulating through music insiders and social media accounts, the Recording Academy is reportedly encouraging Drake and his OVO camp to submit the projects for awards consideration next year.

Drake Has Frequently Rejected Grammy Submissions

Despite being one of the most commercially successful artists of his generation, Drake has maintained a complicated relationship with the Grammy Awards over the years.

The rapper has often criticized the awards process and previously declined to submit several major projects for consideration. His last major solo-era Grammy campaign reportedly came during the release of Scorpion in 2018.

Since then, Drake’s Grammy nominations have primarily come from collaborative efforts, including Her Loss with 21 Savage and $ome $exy $ongs 4 U with PARTYNEXTDOOR.

Even with his reservations about the Recording Academy, he remains one of the most nominated rappers in Grammy history, earning 56 nominations and five wins throughout his career.

‘ICEMAN’ Era Creates New Pressure

Industry speculation suggests that Universal Music Group may be encouraging Drake to reconsider his stance on Grammy submissions due to the massive success of the ICEMAN trilogy.

The projects have dominated streaming platforms, generated record-breaking Billboard milestones, and reignited debate over Drake’s position in modern hip-hop.

Some reports claim internal pressure from both the label and awards circles is growing, especially as ICEMAN has become one of the biggest rap releases of 2026.

However, rumors also suggest Drake remains skeptical of the awards process and could resist any push toward participation.

Ongoing Tension Between Drake and UMG

The alleged Grammy discussions arrive during an already tense period between Drake and Universal Music Group.

The rapper is currently involved in an ongoing legal dispute connected to the release of Kendrick Lamar’s diss track “Not Like Us,” which Drake reportedly challenged in a dismissed defamation lawsuit that is now under appeal.

Fans have also speculated that Drake’s recent triple-album rollout could mark the completion of his long-running deal with UMG, potentially opening the door for future independent releases.

That backdrop has only intensified online conversations about whether Drake would cooperate with label-backed Grammy campaigns moving forward.

Will Drake Finally Return to the Grammys?

As of now, no official Grammy submissions have been confirmed, and neither Drake nor the Recording Academy has publicly addressed the rumors.

Still, with ICEMAN, HABIBTI, and MAID OF HONOUR dominating charts and streaming numbers worldwide, many industry observers believe the projects could become major Grammy contenders if submitted.

Whether Drake chooses to participate or continue distancing himself from the awards system remains one of the music industry’s biggest unanswered questions heading into 2027.
