Album Announcement
Drake Iceman release date confirmed: the album drops May 15 — and a Twitch streamer found it first
Drake’s long-awaited solo album Iceman now has an official release date: Friday, May 15, 2026. The date was discovered inside a blue bag buried within the towering ice sculpture Drake erected in downtown Toronto on Monday, April 20, in a stunt that drew hundreds of fans, pickaxes, blowtorches, and eventually Toronto police. The bag was uncovered live on stream by Twitch creator Kishka, who climbed the structure and retrieved it in front of a live online audience, with the words “Iceman, May 15” confirmed from its contents. Along with the release date card, the blue bag, which was labelled “Freeze the world” on the outside, contained a photograph of a white t-shirt printed with the phrase “2026 will be my year,” as well as a blurry personal selfie from Drake himself. Tracklist details and further album information have not yet been disclosed.
How the ice sculpture reveal unfolded
When Drake announced on Instagram Monday that the Iceman release date was physically frozen inside the installation at 81 Bond Street in Toronto, fans descended on the location almost immediately, many armed with tools. By that evening, a crowd of approximately 800 people had gathered, with some scaling the six-metre structure while others attempted to chip it apart. Toronto police and fire services were called for crowd control after reports of people climbing the block and refusing to come down, and a fire was set on top of the structure. No injuries were reported.

Drake’s Iceman New album rollout goes big, with explosions, ice blocks, and a hidden release date in Toronto
A University of Toronto professor, commenting on the fan-driven effort to accelerate the melt, noted that the combination of physical disruption and surface roughness caused by the tools would genuinely speed up heat transfer, though melting the full structure naturally would require an enormous amount of energy and was originally estimated to take at least two weeks.

What Iceman means for Drake
Iceman will be Drake’s first solo studio album since his high-profile feud with Kendrick Lamar dominated hip-hop in 2024. His last individual release, For All the Dogs, arrived in 2023, and a 2025 collaborative project with PARTYNEXTDOOR served as the only major Drake-led release in the interim. The three singles released ahead of Iceman in 2025, including a collaboration with Central Cee and another featuring Yeat and Julia Wolf, all charted in Canada, building anticipation for a project that has now been in the making for the better part of two years.
With May 15 now confirmed, the most theatrically engineered album rollout in recent music history has delivered its punchline — and the real countdown begins.
